Gather Your Friends For Oregon Inlet Fishing Charters

By Diane Martin

There is a ton of fishing equipment and merchandise out on the market for purchase. Some is for beginning anglers, while some is meant for people who take their angling trips seriously and do it often. A boat is the only piece of equipment that is so expensive that many cannot afford to purchase and upkeep one. If you are in the Kill Devil Hills, NC area, that is when you should call an Oregon Inlet fishing charters to provide the boat for you.

The Oregon Inlet might sound like it is on the West Coast, but it is actually on the East Coast of the United States, right off the area that is known as the Outer Banks of coastal North Carolina. It is in the Atlantic Ocean, near a gulf stream that brings lots of fish to the area. It is ripe for anglers to take advantage of, as you can catch everything from marlins to small sharks.

The great thing about the area is that it is also home to lots of charter companies, so you do not have to own your own vessel to go fishing. Even though you are chartering a vessel, you can still spend all day out if you book what is called an offshore tour. These are when you leave out at the crack of dawn, often when it is still dark and go deep into the ocean to fish. Then there are the in shore trips, where you still go out, but not as far. These usually last just the afternoon, so you spend a few hours or half a day out on the water.

After you choose which type of trip to take, you can then get a group together. You may already have enough people to fill a boat, so you can charter the entire thing. This way, you know and trust everyone on board.

If you do not have a group that wants to go out but you would still like to fish, you can arrange for what is called a makeup charter. This is where you fill a spot on a boat, with the other spots being filled by people you do not know. Sometimes you may join a larger group that is not quite large enough to book the entire vessel.

Whether you are doing a regular or makeup trip, you must reserve your spot in advance, usually with a deposit immediately due. The deposit amount varies from company to company, as well as the due date for the balance. Ask if you have any questions about payment.

As for equipment, the company will usually have all the rods, reels and bait that you could possibly need. You are free of course to bring your own equipment if you prefer. The sun is hot in this area, so make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen and a hat. Ask if meals are provided, and if not then bring food as well.

Once the appointed day comes, you can relax as an experienced captain pilots the boat with full knowledge of the area. The crew will take good care of you and teach you what to do if you are new to fishing so that you can get better as the day wears on.
