Water is usually renewable energy because it usually gets purified by the rain and evaporation. The earth only has three percent water available for use. Wastewater can also be termed as sewage. Waste is constantly been produced in households. The sewage H2O generated from the homestead can be categorized into three classes. The first one is grey H2O which is from laundry, basin, bath and shower. It is the preferred one for recycling. The second one is black H2O and is from toilets. It has infectious agents. However, it can still be treated but its uses are not extensive. Sewage is a mixture of above mentioned types. It is very infectious but could be used in some way after treatment.

After treatment, the H2O is pumped back to the house while the resulting effluent is disposed of into the ocean. Large communities are supplied with this recycled water. However, it contributes minimally to H2O saving efforts. Because of the biodegradable nature of sewage, its possible for bacteria which are naturally occurring to be made use of in treating the H2O locally. The ways in which this can be realized involve by use of aerated systems of wastewater treatment, septic tanks, filtered systems and composting toilets.

The process helps the user to save money which may have been otherwise used for paying H2O bill. It also results to H2O for use in the garden as opposed to using piped H2O for such. The owner becomes self-reliant and also conserves the environment. Ground H2O is preserved, the work of the local council in handling wastewater especially grey H2O is reduced and jobs are created in processing and research too.

For those planning on setting up a treatment system at home, the municipal council has to be consulted first to guide in the installations. The plumber hired should be licensed and the family members should be educated o the risks the wastewater poses.
